My little red dragon

leave a comment »

Hello! It has been ages since I last posted. I still have lots of ideas running around in my noggin’ and the creative juices are still flowing, but just needed to take a break for a while.

Have been watching Game of Thrones and really getting into it and here’s something that popped into my head recently when listening to nursery rhymes. Enjoy!

Lyrics of a popular song updated with modern day sensibility:

Razing villages with my little red dragon

Burning up ye towns with my little red dragon

Soaring through the air goes my little red dragon

Having so much fun!

Bowling over knights with my little red dragon

Destroying castle walls with my little red dragon

No hero can kill my little red dragon

Try and you’ll get eaten!

A force of nature is my little red dragon

Wise and powerful is my little red dragon

Hoarding all the gold with my little red dragon

Dragonborn! Fus ro dah!

Monday’s child

leave a comment »

Logical continuation of a nursery rhyme in the unpolitical correctness of today:

Monday’s child does social media

Tuesday’s child surfs Wikipedia

Wednesday’s child loves Justin Bieber

Thursday’s child has Gaga fever

Friday’s child is such a Gleek

Saturday’s child speaks fluent “street”

And the child that is born on the Sabbath day

Is too young, but reading 50 Shades of Grey

Lyrics of a popular song updated with modern day sensibility:

Frere Jacques, frere Jacques

Pleurant-vous? Pleurant-vous?

Votre femme vous a quitte, votre femme vous a quitte

Comme un clochard, comme un clochard

Are you weeping, are you weeping

Brother John? Brother John?

Your wife has left you, your wife has left you

‘Coz you’re a bum, ‘coz you’re a bum

Being Australian

leave a comment »

Happy Australia Day everybody! Here’s a reworking of Australia’s unofficial anthem, from the point of view from a non-Aussie who’s lived in Australia for the past 10 years:

Being Australian (to the tune of Banjo Patterson’s “Waltzing Matilda”)

Only in Au-stray-lia will you find a way of life

And culture defined as “being Aussie”

Mateship and having a go as the underdog

And lots of beaut blokes and sheilas to see!

Being Australian, Living in Australia

Driving in a ute or Volkswagon kombi

Make yourself a sanger, smeared with lots of vegemite

Culture we know that’s uniquely Aussie

Au-stray-lia is home to lots of unique expressions

Lingo and strange slang such as “No worries!”

From “G’day mate”, “Fair Dinkum”, and someone having a “Fair Go”

Come, “throw a shrimp on the barbie” with me!

Being Australia, Slang in Australia

“Strewth”, “Bloody Oath”; terms used by girls and boys

And the chant that identifies the Aussies standing in a crowd

“Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi!”

Music and arts and sport are all significant

To the Australian way of living

Akka Dakka, The Wiggles, Dame Edna and Steve Irwin,

Let’s all go watch the footy at the ‘G!

Being Australian, Culture in Australia

Bradman, Rod Laver, Phar Lap: sporting greats

Farnham, Cold Chisel and Kylie on the radio

Your turn to buy a pot of beer for your mates!

Only in Australia will you find exclusive wildlife

Fauna that’s indigenous to this land

Koalas and kangaroos and the oddly shaped platypus

Also snakes and spiders dangerous to man!

Being Australian, Living in Australia

Customs and laws that you have to obey

To protect the flora and fauna of this native land

Adhere to these rules if you want to stay!

Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag

leave a comment »

Lyrics of a popular song updated with modern day sensibility:

Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag

And just ignore

Even when you’re often called a “ho” or “slag”

Correct them; you’re a whore

It’s the oldest profession

So stand up and be proud, so

Charge them naysayers for extra cash

Then scream out loud!

This little piggy

leave a comment »

Logical continuation of a nursery rhyme in the unpolitical correctness of today:

This little piggy went to the market

‘Tis the hobby of all anthromorphic swine

He saw other little piggies strung up on hooks

And he started to whimper and whine

Sausages, pork, bacon and ham

And plenty of cuts off the bone

Run away quickly, little piggy!

Yell “Wee wee wee!” all the way home!

Kumbaya

leave a comment »

Lyrics of a popular song updated with modern day sensibility:

“Kumbaya”, just means: “Come by here”

One o’ the strangest terms, you’ll ever hear

When you think of someone from afar

Just sing: “Kumbaya”

Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya

When I your help, there you are

Singing loudly it sounds so bizarre

O Lord, kumbaya
